Fantastic to see 1 Appold Street, our landmark project for British Land that recently obtained planning, with a starring role last week on the retrofit agenda stage at FOOTPRINT+ festival and rightly so.

An exemplar project, with a market-leading approach to sustainability, which we are incredibly proud to be collaborating on.

In an industry responsible for 25% of the UK's greenhouse emissions, retrofit and re-use of buildings is key to keeping carbon locked in. The 1 Appold Street design retains 75% of the existing structure whilst substantially increasing floorspace by adding a further five floors, thereby maximising inherent structural capacity of the existing building. The c.550,000 sq.ft. building is being substantially repositioned to complement the redeveloped Exchange Square, targeting BREEAM Outstanding, EPC A, WELL Platinum, NABERS 5.5*, creating significant outdoor amenity including extensive new public realm.
