Opera providing pro-bono project management to Steel Warriors

Steel Warriors is an anti-knife crime charity which was founded in 2017 by Ben Wintour and Pia Fontes.

The charity’s objective is to reduce the number of young people carrying knives in London, then eventually throughout the UK. Steel Warriors melt down the knives taken off London’s streets supplied by the Met Police and recycle the steel used to create outdoor calisthenics gyms. The aim is to offer young people a free space to focus their time and energy, to train and to channel their energy through positive activity and help them to have greater physical confidence to walk the streets unarmed.

Opera’s role, as part of our ongoing commitment to CSR, is to act as the client’s programme managers and help deliver the charity’s vision. Opera will prepare and maintain the overall plans and programmes to roll out Steel Warriors’ long term vision for an initial eight calisthenics gyms across different London boroughs where knife crime is most prevalent.
